Stabat Mater -Pergolesi (2004)

Stabat Mater -Pergolesi (2004)
1 DVD ISO | 720x480 | MPEG-2 DVD | LPCM, DD 5.1 | Language: Latin | Subtitles: EN, IT, Latin, Partition | 65 MIN | 3.48 GB
Artists: Barbara Frittoli, Anna Caterina Antonacci...
Conductor: Riccardo Muti | TV direction : Georg Blume | Recording Date: 1997 | Place of recording: Santuario della Beata Virgine dei Miracoli, Saronno

Stabat Mater is a thirteenth century Roman Catholic sequence variously attributed to Innocent III and Jacopone da Todi. Its title is an abbreviation of the first line, Stabat mater dolorosa ("The sorrowful mother stood"). The hymn, one of the most powerful and immediate of extant medieval poems, meditates on the suffering of Mary, Jesus Christ's mother, during his crucifixion. It is sung at the liturgy on the memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Bach In Notre-Dame De Paris: Mass in B Minor - John Nelson (2007)

Bach In Notre-Dame De Paris: Mass in B Minor - John Nelson (2007)
1 DVD ISO | 720x480 | MPEG-2 DVD | LPCM, DD 5.1 | Language: Latin | Subtitles: EN, FR, GER, ES | 108 MIN | 7.37 GB

Artists: Dietrich Henschel, Ruth Ziesak, Anna Larsson, Christoph Genz, Herbert Blomstedt...
Conductor: John Nelson | Choir direction: Nicole Corti | TV Direction : Olivier Simonnet | Recording Date: March 2006 | Place of recording: Notre-Dame De Paris

The Mass in B minor (BWV 232) is a musical setting of the complete Latin Mass by Johann Sebastian Bach. The work was one of Bach's last, although much of it was made of music that Bach had composed earlier. Bach assembled the mass in its present form in 1749, just before his death in 1750. The Sanctus of the Mass in B minor dates back to 1724 (and the model for one parody even to 1714). The Kyrie and Gloria had been composed as a Lutheran Missa in 1733 for Dresden. To complete the work, however, Bach composed new sections of the Credo such as Et incarnatus est. These were his last major compositions.

Requiem - Mozart - Karl Bohm - 1990

EAC Extraction (LOG included) | FLAC | Separate tracks | 287 MB | RS.com

"This recording deserves an infinite amount of stars. When I first heard this recording, I never thought that Mozart's Requiem could be performed with such a legendary amount of depth and maturity. Every tempo that Karl Bohm decided to use, made it only obvious, that he was a man of impeccable musical depth, both emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically. He had to be. You can actually FEEL the emotional power of this recording. It's a spiritual sensation! I have read certain reviews in which people have greatly acknowledged other particular recordings for their incredibly bravura, virtuosic, and flamboyant performances. However, it must be realized, that this is an EXTREMELY deep, and religious work that is primarily for the glory of GOD. And GOD, would obviously have no interest in a person who's goal would be to bring recognition upon themselves, for their flamboyant renditions."

Apollo et Hyacinthus - Mozart (2007)

Apollo et Hyacinthus - Mozart (2007)
1 DVD ISO | 720x480 | MPEG-2 DVD | PCM 2.0, DTS 5.1 | Language: Latin | Subtitles: EN, FR, GER, LA, ES | 71 MIN | 6.22 GB

Artists: Maximilian Kiener, Christiane Karg, Anja Schlosser, Jekatrina Tretjakova...
Stage direction : John Dew | Conductor: Josef Wallnig | Direction : Christian Kurt Weiss | Recording Date: 28 August 2006 | Place of recording: Great University Hall, Salzburg

In 1767, Mozart, an 11 years old child, composed his first two stage works: Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebotes K. 35 (which is actually a sacred drama) and Apollo et Hyacinthus K. 38 (which is Mozart's first true opera).

Apollo et Hyacinthus was written to a Latin libretto which is based on Ovid's Metamorphoses. Hyacinth died due to a discus thrown by Apollo, which was blown off course by the wind god Zephyrus, out of jealousy. After he died, Apollo made a flower, the hyacinth out of his blood. The stage director John Dew created a charming show as if it were a reconstruction of an opera seria, which is presented in a late Baroque theater. Settings and costumes are baroque style and the singers are imitating baroque theater gestures. The young singers are all excellent, but one must mention tenor Maximilian Kiener in the role of Hyacinth's father Oebalus and Christiane Karg as his sister Melia. The section I liked best in this early work is their duet near the end of the opera, where they are lamenting over Hyacinth's death. This is extremely beautiful and sublime music conveying deep emotions, with the two voices blending perfectly to an accompaniment of strings pizzicati. It is amazing that eleven years old boy could compose music that has strong feeling of grief. Another proof, if there is a need, for Mozart being an unparalleled unique genius. The work lasts 75 minutes.

Requiem (Karl Bohm) - Mozart (2005)

Requiem (Karl Bohm) - Mozart (2005)
1 DVD ISO | 720x480 | MPEG-2 DVD | PCM 2.0, DTS 5.1 | Language: Latin | Subtitles: LAT, EN, FR, GER, ES, CN | 64 MIN | 3.68 GB

Artists: Christa Ludwig, Gundula Janowitz, Peter Schreier, Walter Berry, Vienna State Opera Chorus...
Chorus Master : Norbert Balatsch | Conductor: Karl Böhm | Direction : Hugo Kach | Recording Date: December 1971 | Place of recording: Piaristenkirche, Vienna

"Bohm's authority as a Mozart conductor is never in doubt: he recorded all the Symphonies for DG with the Berlin Philharmonic in the 1960s, and there are 6 of them rerecorded in the late 1970s,late in his career with the Vienna Philharmonic. There are earlier recordings (1950s) of the late symphonies in Vienna and with the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Bohm recorded Mozart's REQUIEM with the Vienna Symphony in 1956 for Philips, and again in 1970 with the Vienna Philharmonic for DG. This video recording was made in December, 1971, and shows Bohm in full command of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Vienna State Opera Chorus. There is perfect precision, or as near perfect as I can perceive. Bohm is always solidly in control, and never pushes tempos faster than they need to be. Hearing the "Dies Irae" makes my pulse race with the drama and intensity of the text. While feeling the fear of the last judgement, I am at once overwhelmed by the beauty of Mozart's music. The other movements are equally as consistent, and the solo singing by a dream team quartet: Gundala Janowitz, Christa Ludwig, Peter Schreier, and Walter Berry, is wonderful. "

I've seen 3 Requiem and this one is to my eyes and ears, the best one. It's the Requiem, I used to hear when young and Bohm is so majestic in his conducting, not throwing his hands all over like some do, calm and masterful. A choir and soloists of the highest and best quality. I highly recommend it. My thanks to el3434 who gave me torrent links to it.

Requiem (Berntein) - Mozart (2007)

Requiem (Berntein) - Mozart (2007)
1 DVD ISO | 720x480 | MPEG-2 DVD | PCM 2.0, DTS 5.1 | Language: Latin | Subtitles: LAT, EN, FR, GER, ES, CN | 64 MIN | 4.20 GB

Artists: Jerry Hadley, Marie McLaughlin, Maria Ewing, Cornelius Hauptmann...
Chorus Master : Wolfgang Seeliger | Conductor: Leonard Bernstein | Direction : Humphrey Burton | Recording Date: 1988 | Place of recording: Abbey Church, Diessen

"Leonard Bernstein dedicated this performance to the memory of his late wife, the actress Felicia Montealegre. It was recorded during two concerts in July 1988 in the beautiful St. Mary's Cathedral in Diessen at the Ammersee and has been available as a CD since 1989. The DVD's bonus has the conductor present, as an introduction to the work, a deeply felt reading (in German) of a letter by Mozart to his father dealing with the subject of death and its serene acceptance. Bernstein uses the Franz Beyer "completion" of Mozart's unfinished mass. His tempi are predominantly slow, accents are sharp, and the excellent Bavarians, both orchestral and chorus musicians, achieve a high level of transparency despite the reverberant church acoustics. Bernstein's reading of the score is neither "romantic" nor "authentic": it is unique in its uncompromising, searing intensity. The four soloists are outstanding. All in all, this may not be your one and only performance of the Requiem, but it is immensely moving and it will stay with you. Get it while you can. "

Choir direction : Heinz Ferlesch | Conductor: Claudio Scimone | Direction : Gabriele Cazzola | Recording Date: September 2005 | Place of recording: In San Marco, Venice and Cappella degli Scrovegni, Padua

"'I Solisti Veneti' have enjoyed a long and rewarding association with Claudio Scimone, and this is so obvious in the rapport of the musicians in these Vivaldi delights. Combining with the "Singakamie Choir of Vienna' they present a varied group of sacred music from the pen of the 'Red Monk'. There are two Glorias - the better known RV589 and the RV562, both beautifully performed, Salve Regina RV 616 and Stabat Mater RY621, and two Concertos - RV581 and part of RV562. Along with the Sonata Al Santo Sepolcro RV130 it provides the listener with a variety of glorious music. Highly recommended for those who know Vivaldi, and for those who know only "the Seasons' but who want to know more. "
